BLOCK PARTY

No Crow blog would be complete without the acknowledgment of Block Party. It was one of the few things the University got right on its own, that is until they moved it to South Campus.

It was the only day where drinking for 18 hours in the middle of the street was actually sanctioned. A greater Ode to this memorable event is owed to Block Party but, alas, this platform is all I've got.

My three greatest Block Party moments:

  1. Liability falling out of the tree and subsequent reemergence from the ambulence.
  2. Group of A Chi Os speaking unintelligibly because they had dropped acid.
  3. Random chick stripping in Maggies. Supposedly Soad Dish went up to her and started making out.
Name your top three:

in my top 3 I would definetly have the famous hair chair during block party Spring '90 (my pledge class). It would loaded on the back of _____(?) truck and brought down and parked in front of the Alpha Tao Omega house. Almost everyone sat down in the thing (Liability was telling every chic that it had magical powers or made them horny and Dez kept dipping the hair in beer and telling people that this would cause the hair to multiply!) Then in the early part of the evening, somebody (Dez and Romer?) smashed it to pieces, which only took about 30 seconds.

LOL regarding Hair Chair...I haven't thought about that thing in 16 years.

Weak sweater, I agree.

Look at the dirt on the back of Fran's shirt. What was he doing?

As the music geek of the group, I must say that when Block Party moved to South Campus, we had the best band line-up of my SU tenure. The Ramones, A Tribe Called Quest, and Screaming Trees. Plus, we got to abuse the apartment at 121 Small Rd.
